About Manilva

Manilva is known for is its' sweet Moscatel wine, in fact this is one of the town's chief industries which centers on the vineyards set Manilva Town Centre in the hills around it. These sweet Moscatel grapes are prized, not only for wine, but for the production of raisins which you can see drying in the sun on the hillsides during September.

Every year, on the first weekend in September, Manilva celebrates its annual grape harvest, the Vendimia Festival. Its well worth going to the town's Main Square where you will be witness to flamenco dancers, brass bands and music and dancing in the town until the early hours of the morning. You will also get to see the traditional stamping of the grapes and more importantly, be able to sample the first wine of the season.

Although Manilva has some element of tourism and a foreign community it is less marked than in other parts of the Costa Del Sol. If you are looking for sleepy Andalusian authenticity Manilva certainly has that, it is still one of the few places where everything grinds to a halt during the afternoon siesta.
