Geography
The Grenadines are a group of about thirty islands covering 150 square miles.
St. Vincent is the largest island; its smaller neighbours extending 45 miles to the southwest in
the shape of a kite's tail. Visitors seeking upscale resorts should focus their attention on Young
Island, Mustique, Canouan, Palm Island and Petit St. Vincent, with Bequia particularly popular amongst
the yachting fraternity.

Currency
The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, which is linked to the US dollar
(US$1 = EC$2.65 approximately). US dollars and major credit cards are generally accepted,
although visitors should check before making any purchases.
How to get there
The Grenadines are usually reached by air through the major gateway of Barbados - there are onward
flights from here to St. Vincent, Union Island, Canouan, Mustique and Bequia. Ferries service many
of the islands, with yacht charters also a popular way of exploring the archipelago. (Please note at
Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados there is a St. Vincent and the Grenadines information desk which is
open from about 1 p.m. until the last flight to St. Vincent departs).
Electricity
In general, the electrical voltage is 220 volts and most sockets take plugs with 3 rectangular pins - so
remember to take an adaptor. The exception to this is Petit St. Vincent which is 110 volts.
