Driving in Barbados is English-style on the left-hand side. In general, roads
are in excellent condition and the sign posts are good.
However, the highways get very busy during
the morning and evening rush hours and it's always a good idea to avoid driving during these peak
times. Car hire can be arranged through the hotels, but really should be organized in advance during
the peak holiday times. Various types of vehicle are available, but many visitors opt for the fun mini-mokes!
The approximate cost of mini-moke hire is US$85 per day (US$320 per week), including CDW
(optional) and a driving permit. (The driving permit costs US$5 and is issued on presentation of your
current driver's licence).
